3 Men Charged With The Murder of Man Aiding His Grandfather in a Robbery

Edwin Alexander Bonilla, 27, was arraigned on Tuesday February 21, 2012 in Van Nuys Superior Court on charges stemming from the January 9th shooting death of Danilo Estuardo Morales.

Bonilla is charged with one count each of murder (felony murder), attempted murder, assault with a firearm and second-degree robbery.

Co-defendants Evin Adonis Ortiz, 22, of Valley Glen, and Rene Ramirez, 29, of Mission Hills, were charged with the same crimes on January 17th.

The death penalty is being contemplated.

The charges arose from the evening of January 9th when Morales walked in on his 68 year old grandfather being robbed in the driveway of his home.

As the grandfather screamed for help when the robbers fled with his wallet and jewelry, Morales chased after the three as they jumped into a white, mid-sized sport utility vehicle.

One of them then shot Morales in the head killing him.

Home Invasion Robbery Leaves 86 Year Old Woman Unhurt

An elderly woman, 86, was asleep on her couch at 5:30 a.m. on February 8, 2012 when someone kicked open her front door.

A man wearing a ski mask said to the woman, “Don’t move” and covered her face with a blanket.

She heard two more voices as the men went through her home. They took a safe and left.

The woman was unhurt.

2 Men Arrested On Suspicion of North Hollywood Murders

On Thursday February 9, 2012, Gregory Edmond, ofSimi Valley, and Telvin Breaux, ofLos Angeles, both 20 years old were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the gang-related fatal shooting of two men at a party inNorth Hollywoodback in August of 2011.

Gang rivals, who were uninvited, showed up at a party and soon after the shooting broke out.

Deon Michael Bastian, 22, ofMonrovia, died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Wilson Pierre, 22, ofPasadena, was taken toKaiserPanoramaCityMedicalCenterwhere he died of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Both men were arrested for suspicion of murder and are being held at the Valley Jail Section pending arraignment in Van Nuys Superior Court.

Bail is set at $2 million each.

Kid From “Home Improvement” Arrested For Driving Under The Influence of Drugs

Taran Noah Smith, 27, the actor who played the youngest brother on “Home Improvement” for 8 seasons, was arrested on February 1, 2012 on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

Smith was arrested about 1:30 a.m. in front ofBurbankHigh School. The fact that his car was parked at an angle in a red zone near a fire hydrant is what caught the attention of the police.

The engine was running as the police approached the car and smelled the odor of the marijuana. Smith was taken to jail for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs after he was given a field sobriety test and booked with a bail of $10,000.
